From my experience, From 1913 to 1938, the Mint produced the iconic “Buffalo” nickel, designed by James Earle Fraser. The obverse showed the bust of a Native American chief, and the reverse depicted an American bison. Jefferson took his place on the obverse of the nickel in 1938 with Monticello, his Virginia home, on the reverse.

Thanks for asking. Several founding fathers have been featured on U.S. coins, including George Washington on the quarter, Thomas Jefferson on the nickel, and Benjamin Franklin on the half-dollar (no longer in circulation).

The most enduring design, the Jefferson Nickel, has featured the profile of Thomas Jefferson since 1938. This representation not only pays tribute to Jefferson’s pivotal role in drafting the Declaration of Independence but also reflects his vision for the nation.

From my experience, The Ulysses S. Grant Presidential $1 Coin honors the 18th President of the United States. Born in 1822, Ulysses S. Grant was the son of an Ohio tanner.
