  • Gram Weights: Some gold coins are measured in grams, especially from certain mints like the Chinese Mint. These can range from 1 gram to 1 kilogram. Examples include:

– 1 gram
– 2 grams
– 8 grams
– 10 grams
– 1 kilogram

  • Other Sizes: You can also find gold coins in less common sizes like 2 oz, 5 oz, or even miniature versions.
  • The term “ounce” for gold coins typically refers to the troy ounce , which is slightly heavier than the standard (avoirdupois) ounce.
  • While 1 troy ounce is the most common, smaller fractional and gram weights are available to accommodate different budgets and investment strategies.
  • The overall weight of a gold coin might differ slightly from its pure gold content if it’s an alloy (like a 22k coin with copper) to enhance durability.

Great question! The troy ounce is the equivalent of 31.1034768 grams. A standard ounce is the equivalent of 28.349 grams, or around 10% less.
