The value of an Andrew Johnson Presidential dollar coin depends mainly on its condition and whether it has any minting errors.

  • Most Andrew Johnson dollar coins, especially those in circulated condition, are worth their face value of $1.
  • Coins in uncirculated or proof condition can be worth a bit more, potentially in the range of a few dollars. For example, a 2011-P Andrew Johnson dollar (Philadelphia mint) in uncirculated collectible condition is offered for $6.
  • Some sources indicate that the value for a coin in very good condition could range between $3.50 to $13 for coin collectors.
  • Missing edge lettering: The most valuable Andrew Johnson dollar coins are those with minting errors, especially those missing the edge lettering (which includes the date, mint mark, and “E Pluribus Unum”). An example of this is a rare Andrew Johnson dollar coin missing the date, offered for $250.
  • Doubled edge lettering: Other errors, such as doubled edge lettering (overlapped or inverted), can also add to the value.

– One example is a rare uncirculated 2011 Andrew Johnson gold dollar coin with inverted text error offered for $400.
– Another example of an Andrew Johnson dollar coin with doubled edge lettering running in opposite directions and upside down (inverted error) is offered for $1200.

In summary, while most Andrew Johnson Presidential dollar coins are worth $1, their value can increase depending on their condition (uncirculated or proof) and the presence of minting errors, with missing edge lettering errors being the most valuable.

From my experience, Andrew Jackson dollar coins in circulated condition hold a face value of $1.00. However, their market value appreciates significantly when in uncirculated condition.

Thanks for asking. The traditional inscriptions “E Pluribus Unum,” the date of issuance and the mint mark have been moved to the edge of the coin, making it unique among circulating coins.

I can help with that. The 2008 Andrew Jackson dollar is missing the date, mint mark, motto e pluribus unum and motto in god we trust (which was moved to the obverse in 2009) – these early issues were even dubbed “Godless” coins by the media!
