The person depicted on the United States half dollar coin is President John F. Kennedy.

His profile portrait appears on the obverse (front) of the coin, a design created by Gilroy Roberts. The reverse (back) side of the coin features a design based on the Presidential Seal, created by Frank Gasparro.

It is important to note that earlier half dollars featured other designs, including Lady Liberty and Benjamin Franklin, but the Kennedy Half Dollar was introduced in 1964 and remains the current design.

In 1964, the United States Mint released the Kennedy Half Dollar to honor President John F. Kennedy after his tragic assassination. The coin, with its striking portrait of the beloved president, became an instant favorite among Americans.
