The value of a 1965 Churchill crown coin varies depending on its condition and whether it has a rare mint mark.

  • Most of these coins are common and are worth about £2.
  • Uncirculated coins in near-perfect condition may be sold for around £3 (about $5 USD) or potentially for as much as $17 USD.
  • However, some sources suggest that coin dealers are unlikely to pay much more than the face value of 25p, [according to Quora].
  • A rare version with a tiny mint mark beneath Winston Churchill’s portrait could be worth over £60,000.
  • The Royal Mint Museum states that the initials of the designer, Oscar Nemon, were removed from the approved coins, but remain on the VIP specimen, of which the mintage figures are unknown.
  • These VIP specimen coins, also called Satin Finish VIP Specimens, could be worth $17.

Important note: Using a magnifying glass or jeweller’s loupe is recommended to check for the mint mark.

  • Condition: Uncirculated or near-perfect condition generally increases value.
  • Rarity: The presence of a rare mint mark can significantly increase the value.
  • Market Demand: The collectible value is also influenced by what the market will bear.

From my experience, The 1965 Churchill Crown was a circulating coin. It was made of cupro-nickel, as was customary at this time.
