Publix stores that have their own coin-counting machines generally charge a fee of around 10% to exchange your coins for cash . This fee can vary slightly by location. For instance, one Reddit user mentioned their Publix charging 10%, while another reported their local store charging 14%.

It’s important to note that some Publix locations may host Coinstar machines instead of their own brand of coin sorters. Coinstar machines typically charge a higher fee, which can be up to 12.9% plus a $0.99 transaction fee for converting coins to cash. However, Coinstar offers the option to avoid this fee by opting for an eGift card or donating your coins to charity.

If you want to avoid paying a fee for exchanging your coins, you can try visiting your bank or credit union, as they may offer free coin counting for members. However, some banks may still require you to roll your own coins or charge a fee for processing them.

From my experience, If you shop at Publix supermarkets, you’ll notice that the store has its own Publix-branded coin-counting machines. These machines count your coins and provide a receipt that you can take to the customer service counter and redeem for cash. Publix coin-counting fees vary by store, but generally, they charge around 10%.

Thanks for asking. There is often a fee attached to coin counting machines. All the Coinstar machines take 10.9 percent of what you put into it. Most credit unions count the coins as a free service to members, but if you’re not, they’ll charge you a fee of anywhere from 3 to 9 percent.
