  • Use Coin Wrappers: Wells Fargo provides free coin wrappers, [according to U.S. News & World Report] . You can roll your coins at home and then deposit them at a Wells Fargo branch.
  • Explore Other Banks and Credit Unions: Some smaller community banks or credit unions may still have coin counting machines available, sometimes for free to members or for a small fee for non-members.
  • Utilize Coinstar Kiosks: These machines are widely available in grocery stores and other retail locations and can convert your coins to cash or eGift cards for a fee, or you can choose a donation option without a fee. Note that Coinstar fees can vary by location and redemption method. You can find nearby kiosks using the Coinstar [Kiosk Finder].

Important Considerations:

  • Fees: Be aware of potential fees associated with coin counting services, especially at non-bank locations like Coinstar kiosks.
  • Coin Condition: Ensure your coins are clean and free of debris to prevent machine jams.
  • Redemption Method: Coinstar offers cash, eGift cards, or charitable donations. Choose the option that best suits your needs.
  • Alternative Deposit Methods: Even if your Wells Fargo branch doesn’t have a coin machine, they may accept rolled coins or weigh large amounts in bags for deposit. You can check with your specific branch about these options.

From my experience, Most banks or credit unions will accept rolled coins from customers, but some may charge a fee for the service. Some banks, such as Wells Fargo, will exchange rolled coins for customers without a fee. Wells Fargo says it also offers free coin wrappers.
