The Shiba Inu (SHIB) coin was created in August 2020 by an anonymous individual or group known by the pseudonym “Ryoshi”. This anonymous creator’s identity, much like Bitcoin’s founder Satoshi Nakamoto, remains a mystery.
Ryoshi chose to remain anonymous and characterized himself as a “nobody,” stating that efforts to unmask his identity would be underwhelming. He emphasized that Shiba Inu was an experiment in decentralized, community-led currency, with no central leadership or person held solely accountable. Ryoshi also claimed to own no SHIB tokens himself, stating that this allows him to remain “pure and unbiased”.
In May 2022, Ryoshi disappeared from social media and removed all posts, including a blog post called “I AM RYOSHI”. Despite this, the Shiba Inu ecosystem, guided by lead developer Shytoshi Kusama and the “Shib Army” community, continues to develop.
