The quarter coin in the United States features George Washington, the first president of the United States, on the obverse side (heads). This design has been a staple since 1932.
The reverse side (tails) of the quarter has changed frequently since 1999. Currently, as part of the [American Women Quarters™ Program] , which runs from 2022 to 2025, the reverse features designs honoring American women who have made significant contributions in various fields. Five different women are featured each year.
Who is on the current quarter?
History of the Program
Beginning in 2022, and continuing through 2025, the U.S. Mint will issue up to five new reverse designs each year. The obverse of each coin will maintain a likeness of George Washington, but is different from the design used during the previous quarter program.
