In the perilous world of Remnant 2, players constantly seek advantages and unique encounters. One such encounter involves The Red Prince and a specific item: the Crimson King Coin. This guide details everything you need to know about these coins, their location, purpose, and the various outcomes associated with them. When you give coin Remnant 2 players will find the interaction with The Red Prince a pivotal choice in their playthrough.

The Crimson King Coin: What It Is and Its Significance

The “coin” central to this interaction is the Crimson King Coin. It is not a generic currency but a key item that directly influences your encounter with The Red Prince, a prominent figure in the Losomn biome. Understanding its role is crucial for players looking to optimize their Remnant 2 experience, whether they choose to bypass a challenging boss fight or gain unique crafting materials. The decision to give coin Remnant 2 offers strategic depth.

Origin and Lore Context

The Crimson King Coins are tied to the Fae, the dominant inhabitants of Losomn. Their connection to the Gilded Chambers and the Teleport Fae hints at a deeper, albeit not explicitly stated, cultural or ritualistic significance within their society. The Red Prince, a figure of authority among the Fae, accepts these coins as a form of tribute, indicating their value in his eyes. This adds a layer of world-building to the simple act of collecting and offering them.

Locating Crimson King Coins

To give coin Remnant 2 players must first acquire them. Crimson King Coins are not found randomly throughout Losomn. Their acquisition is tied to a specific enemy type and dungeon.

The Gilded Chambers: Your Hunting Ground

The primary source of Crimson King Coins is the Gilded Chambers dungeon, found within the Losomn biome. This dungeon is characterized by its ornate Fae architecture and often features challenging combat encounters. It is not guaranteed to spawn in every Losomn playthrough, so players may need to reroll their campaign or adventure mode until they find it.

Teleport Fae: The Coin Bearers

Within the Gilded Chambers, you will encounter various Fae enemies. The specific enemies that drop Crimson King Coins are the Teleport Fae. These enemies are identifiable by their ability to quickly disappear and reappear, often flanking players or repositioning to gain an advantage. They are typically agile and can be challenging to pin down. Focusing your efforts on defeating these particular Fae is essential for accumulating the necessary coins. Each Teleport Fae has a chance to drop a Crimson King Coin upon defeat.

The Red Prince Encounter: To Fight or To Tribute?

Once you have collected Crimson King Coins, your path will inevitably lead you to The Red Prince. This encounter presents a significant choice: engage him in a boss battle or offer tribute. The decision to give coin Remnant 2 has direct consequences on your rewards and the progression of this specific storyline segment.

The Audience with The Red Prince

When you approach The Red Prince, he will address you and present an opportunity to offer him tribute. This is the moment where your collected Crimson King Coins become relevant.

Tribute Options and Their Outcomes

The number of Crimson King Coins you possess dictates the options available to you and the subsequent results.

  • Offering 3 or More Coins:
  • Action: If you choose to give coin Remnant 2 to The Red Prince by offering him three or more Crimson King Coins, he will accept your tribute.
  • Immediate Consequence: The Red Prince will “kill” you immediately after accepting the tribute. This is not a game over, but a scripted death sequence.
  • Reward: Despite the scripted death, you will receive the Bloody Steel Splinter crafting material. This material is crucial for crafting specific items later in the game.
  • Boss Fight Skipped: The Red Prince boss fight is entirely bypassed. Upon respawning at the nearest checkpoint, The Red Prince will be gone from his arena, as if you had defeated him in combat. This is a convenient way to progress without engaging in a potentially difficult battle.
  • Offering Fewer Than 3 Coins:
  • Action: If you attempt to give coin Remnant 2 to The Red Prince but offer fewer than three Crimson King Coins (e.g., 1 or 2), he will consider it an insult.
  • Consequence: Offering an insufficient amount of coins will immediately trigger the boss fight with The Red Prince. There is no alternative outcome in this scenario; you are forced into combat.

The Scripted Death and Respawn

The “death” after offering sufficient tribute is a unique game mechanic. You will see a brief animation of The Red Prince dispatching your character. However, you will then respawn at the nearest checkpoint, similar to dying in a regular combat encounter. The key difference is that upon respawning, you will find the Bloody Steel Splinter in your inventory, and The Red Prince’s arena will be empty. This confirms that the encounter has concluded successfully from a narrative and reward perspective, without the need for a boss fight.

Alternative Uses for Crimson King Coins

While the primary use for Crimson King Coins is the tribute to The Red Prince, they are not solely limited to this interaction. Any extra coins you acquire can be put to other, beneficial uses.

The Nightweaver’s Web

The Nightweaver’s Web, also located in Losomn, is an interactive entity that allows players to trade specific items for others. Excess Crimson King Coins can be offered to the Nightweaver’s Web. When you give coin Remnant 2 to the Nightweaver’s Web, they are consumed and in return, you typically receive Relic Fragments. Relic Fragments are valuable items that enhance your Relic’s effectiveness, providing various buffs and bonuses. This offers a good way to utilize any coins you might have left over after dealing with The Red Prince or if you decide to fight him instead of offering tribute.

Ring of Ashes (The Dark Horizon DLC)

For players who own The Dark Horizon DLC, Crimson King Coins gain an additional utility. They can be used to craft the Ring of Ashes. This ring provides specific benefits, often related to fire damage or status effects, making it a valuable addition to certain character builds. This expands the long-term value of collecting these coins beyond the initial Red Prince encounter. The ability to give coin Remnant 2 for this crafting recipe adds depth for DLC owners.

Special Condition: The Crown of the Red Prince

There is one specific item that alters the dynamics of the Red Prince encounter: The Crown of the Red Prince.

Forced Combat

If your character is wearing The Crown of the Red Prince when you encounter The Red Prince, you will be unable to offer tribute. Regardless of how many Crimson King Coins you possess, the option to give coin Remnant 2 to him will be unavailable. Instead, you will be immediately forced into the boss fight. This condition serves as a hard counter to the tribute option, ensuring that players who acquire and wear this specific headpiece must face The Red Prince in combat. This adds a layer of strategic decision-making regarding your equipped gear when approaching this encounter.

Strategic Considerations for Players

The decision to give coin Remnant 2 to The Red Prince or to fight him depends on several factors:

  • Difficulty Preference: If you find boss fights challenging or simply want to progress quickly, offering tribute is a viable option.
  • Item Needs: The Bloody Steel Splinter is a specific crafting material. If you need it urgently and wish to avoid a fight, tribute is the way to go.
  • Combat Experience: If you enjoy challenging boss encounters and are confident in your build, fighting The Red Prince can be a rewarding experience in itself.
  • Extra Coins: If you have an abundance of Crimson King Coins, using extras at the Nightweaver’s Web for Relic Fragments can be beneficial.
  • DLC Ownership: If you have The Dark Horizon DLC, the Ring of Ashes provides another incentive to collect coins, even if you choose to fight The Red Prince.

Best Practices for Coin Collection

  • Prioritize Gilded Chambers: If your goal is to give coin Remnant 2 to The Red Prince for the tribute, actively seek out the Gilded Chambers. Reroll your adventure mode or campaign until it appears.
  • Target Teleport Fae: Focus fire on Teleport Fae within the Gilded Chambers to maximize your coin drops.
  • Manage Inventory: Keep track of how many coins you have. Three is the minimum for tribute, but having more provides flexibility for alternative uses.

Conclusion

The Crimson King Coins in Remnant 2 are more than just collectibles; they are central to a significant choice in Losomn. Whether you choose to give coin Remnant 2 to The Red Prince as a tribute, bypassing a difficult boss fight for a valuable crafting material, or decide to face him in combat, these coins play a crucial role. Their alternative uses at the Nightweaver’s Web and for crafting the Ring of Ashes (with DLC) further enhance their utility, making them an important item for any Remnant 2 player to understand and acquire. By strategically managing your coin collection, you can tailor your experience with The Red Prince to suit your playstyle and current needs.

I can help with that. Once you’ve collected three Crimson King Coins, head to the Red Prince location and select the “Sure, here is your tribute [Give Coins]” option. This action will trigger a cutscene where the Red Prince expresses his gratitude. However, there’s a twist; he’ll summon fiery minions that will kill you.

Good point! If you have 3 and offer him tribute he’ll give you the crafting material necessary to craft the Blood Draw mod. Also, if you encounter him in the Forsaken Coast (DLC) area you can pay him the 3 coins after defeating the One True King, then meet him in the throne room afterwards, he’ll give you the Red Prince armor set.

The Crimson King throws sneetchs at Roland, who takes cover and dodges them, but Roland also finds he can not hit the Crimson King by gun. In the end, Patrick Danville draws and erases the Crimson King, wiping his body out of existence (The Crimson King’s Eye still remain on he balcony of the Dark Tower).
