When playing Remnant 2, players often face a critical decision during their encounter with The Red Prince: whether to give him the three Crimson King Coins or not. This choice significantly impacts the rewards received and the path taken within the Gilded Chambers. This article provides a detailed breakdown to help you decide on remnant 2 give coin or not.

The Red Prince and the Crimson King Coins: A Core Decision

The Red Prince is a significant figure in the Gilded Chambers, and your interaction with him presents a pivotal moment. The choice of remnant 2 give coin or not directly influences whether you engage in a challenging boss battle or receive unique crafting materials and armor sets.

Understanding the Options

There are two primary paths you can take when encountering The Red Prince, each with distinct outcomes:

1. Give the three Crimson King Coins.

  1. Do not give the three Crimson King Coins (or give fewer than three).

Each option yields different rewards and experiences, making the decision of remnant 2 give coin or not strategic.

Option 1: Give the Crimson King Coins

Choosing to give The Red Prince the required three Crimson King Coins leads to a specific sequence of events and rewards. This path is often chosen by players looking to bypass the boss fight or acquire specific items.

Requirements for Giving Coins

To offer tribute to The Red Prince, you must possess exactly three Crimson King Coins. If you have fewer, this option is not available, and you will be forced down the “don’t give coins” path.

Immediate Consequences of Giving Coins

Upon presenting the three coins, several events unfold:

  • Avoidance of Boss Fight: The most immediate benefit of giving the coins is that you will avoid the boss fight with The Red Prince. This can be appealing for players struggling with the encounter or those prioritizing other objectives.
  • Player Demise (Cutscene): Despite seemingly appeasing him, The Red Prince will kill your character in a unique cutscene. This is a scripted event and part of the narrative for this choice.
  • Respawn and Reward: After the cutscene, you will respawn at the nearest checkpoint. Crucially, upon respawning, you will receive the Bloody Steel Splinter crafting material.

The Bloody Steel Splinter: Crafting the Blood Draw Weapon Mod

The Bloody Steel Splinter is a key reward for choosing to give the coins. This crafting material is used by McCabe at Ward 13 to create the Blood Draw weapon mod.

  • Blood Draw Weapon Mod: This mod is designed for a unique combat style. When activated, it shoots a razor-sharp chain that impales and pulls targets towards you. This can be highly effective for crowd control, repositioning enemies, or setting up close-range attacks. Its utility depends on your build and preferred playstyle.

Additional Rewards in The Awakened King DLC

For players who own The Awakened King DLC, giving the coins can lead to an additional, highly sought-after reward: the Red Prince armor set.

  • Prerequisites for Armor: To obtain the Red Prince armor set, you must first help The Red Prince become king in The Awakened King DLC. This involves completing specific questlines within the DLC that establish his claim to the throne.
  • Post-Coronation Encounter: After successfully assisting him and he is crowned king, and you have given him the coins, speak to him again in the throne room. This interaction, after he is ruler, will yield the complete Red Prince armor set. This armor provides unique defensive stats and aesthetic appeal, making it a valuable acquisition for collectors and those optimizing their character’s appearance.

The decision of remnant 2 give coin or not becomes even more nuanced with the DLC, as it offers a pathway to a full armor set in addition to the weapon mod.

Option 2: Don’t Give the Crimson King Coins (or Give Fewer than Three)

If you choose not to give The Red Prince the three Crimson King Coins, or if you simply do not possess enough, a different scenario unfolds. This path leads to a challenging boss encounter.

Triggering the Boss Fight

  • Direct Confrontation: Failing to provide the three coins will immediately trigger the boss fight with The Red Prince. This is a direct combat encounter that tests your build, reflexes, and knowledge of boss mechanics.
  • Challenge and Strategy: The Red Prince is a formidable opponent with unique attack patterns and vulnerabilities. Successfully defeating him requires careful strategy, dodging, and precise damage output.

Rewards for Defeating The Red Prince

Upon successfully defeating The Red Prince in combat, you will receive a different set of rewards compared to giving him the coins.

  • Forlorn Fragment: One confirmed reward for defeating The Red Prince is the Forlorn Fragment crafting material.
  • Crafting a Different Mod: While the exact mod crafted from the Forlorn Fragment can vary depending on game updates or specific conditions, it is used to craft a different weapon mod than the Blood Draw. This allows players to diversify their mod collection based on their combat preferences. The Forlorn Fragment usually crafts the Firestorm weapon mod, which summons a vortex of fire that pulls enemies in and deals continuous burning damage. This provides a powerful area-of-effect option for crowd control and sustained damage.

The choice of remnant 2 give coin or not therefore presents a clear trade-off: a specific utility mod and potential armor set versus a powerful area-of-effect mod and the satisfaction of overcoming a challenging boss.

How to Get Crimson King Coins

Regardless of your decision on remnant 2 give coin or not, you will need to know how to acquire the Crimson King Coins. These coins are a specific drop within the Gilded Chambers.

Farming Crimson King Coins

  • Source: The primary source for Crimson King Coins is by killing Red Knight elites within the Gilded Chambers dungeon. These are distinguished enemies with unique appearances and tougher combat encounters than standard foes.
  • Location: The Gilded Chambers is a specific dungeon that can be found in the Losomn world. You may need to reroll your adventure mode or campaign to acquire this specific dungeon if you do not encounter it naturally.
  • Resetting the Dungeon: If you need to farm more than one or two coins, or if you are unlucky with drops, you can reset the dungeon. This means exiting the Gilded Chambers, potentially returning to Ward 13, and then re-entering the dungeon or rerolling your world to reset its layout and enemy spawns. This allows you to repeatedly kill Red Knight elites until you have collected the three necessary coins.

Farming the coins is a straightforward process, but it may require multiple runs through the Gilded Chambers to gather the required amount for the remnant 2 give coin or not decision.

Making Your Decision: Remnant 2 Give Coin or Not?

The ultimate decision of remnant 2 give coin or not hinges on your personal playstyle, current needs, and long-term goals in Remnant 2.

Consider Your Playstyle

  • Melee/Close-Range Builds: If you prefer to pull enemies close for melee attacks or shotgun blasts, the Blood Draw mod from giving the coins might be more appealing. Its utility in repositioning enemies can be a strong asset.
  • Ranged/Area-of-Effect Builds: If you prefer controlling groups of enemies from a distance or dealing sustained damage over an area, the Firestorm mod from defeating The Red Prince might be more suitable.
  • Challenge Seekers: Players who enjoy challenging boss fights and the satisfaction of overcoming difficult encounters will likely opt to fight The Red Prince.

Evaluate Your Current Needs

  • Early Game: In the early stages of the game, acquiring a useful weapon mod like Blood Draw or Firestorm can significantly impact your combat effectiveness.
  • Armor Collection: If you own The Awakened King DLC and are focused on collecting all armor sets, the path to the Red Prince armor set by giving the coins becomes a strong motivator.
  • Resource Management: Consider if you are struggling with a particular boss and would prefer to bypass it, saving resources like Relic charges and consumables.

Long-Term Goals

  • Completionists: For players aiming to acquire every item and complete all content, both paths will eventually need to be explored. This can be done by rerolling your campaign or adventure mode and making a different choice in subsequent playthroughs.
  • Build Diversity: Each mod offers unique combat utility, so collecting both through different playthroughs allows for greater build diversity and experimentation.

Summary of Outcomes:

| Choice | Immediate Action | Primary Reward | Additional DLC Reward (Awakened King) |
| :——————————- | :————————————————- | :————————————————– | :—————————————- |
| Give 3 Crimson King Coins | Avoids boss fight; Character dies in cutscene. | Bloody Steel Splinter (crafts Blood Draw mod) | Red Prince Armor Set (if crowned King) |
| Don’t Give Coins (or < 3) | Triggers boss fight with The Red Prince. | Forlorn Fragment (crafts Firestorm mod) | N/A |

The decision on remnant 2 give coin or not is a classic Remnant dilemma, offering players meaningful choices that shape their progression and available gear. By understanding the rewards and consequences of each path, you can make an informed decision that best suits your adventure.

Should you pay tribute in Remnant 2?

From my experience, Yes, but not always. The Red Prince will remain non-hostile if you manage to provide three Crimson King Coins as a tribute to him. If you plan to pay the tribute, do not enter his room until you already have three coins on hand. He will turn hostile and will not give you a second chance to collect enough coins.

If you have 3 and offer him tribute he’ll give you the crafting material necessary to craft the Blood Draw mod. Also, if you encounter him in the Forsaken Coast (DLC) area you can pay him the 3 coins after defeating the One True King, then meet him in the throne room afterwards, he’ll give you the Red Prince armor set.

The Crimson King throws sneetchs at Roland, who takes cover and dodges them, but Roland also finds he can not hit the Crimson King by gun. In the end, Patrick Danville draws and erases the Crimson King, wiping his body out of existence (The Crimson King’s Eye still remain on he balcony of the Dark Tower).
