For any aspiring Pokémon Trainer in the vast and vibrant region of Paldea, accumulating wealth is almost as important as collecting powerful Pokémon. Whether you’re stocking up on Poké Balls, healing items, or those essential TMs, having a healthy supply of Poké Dollars makes your journey significantly smoother. One of the most coveted items for maximizing your in-game earnings is the Amulet Coin. This invaluable held item, when equipped, doubles the prize money you receive from trainer battles. Knowing the amulet coin location scarlet is crucial for any player looking to optimize their money-making strategies early in their adventure.

This comprehensive guide will walk you through every step of acquiring the Amulet Coin in Pokémon Scarlet, from finding the right NPC to strategically using the item for maximum profit.

Understanding the Value of the Amulet Coin in Pokémon Scarlet

Before we dive into the specifics of the amulet coin location scarlet, let’s briefly discuss why this item is so highly sought after. In Pokémon games, money is earned primarily through defeating other trainers. The amount of money earned can sometimes feel meager, especially when you consider the cost of high-tier items or the sheer quantity of items needed for competitive play.

The Amulet Coin changes this dynamic entirely. By simply holding this item, your Pokémon effectively becomes a walking ATM. Every time the Pokémon holding the Amulet Coin participates in a trainer battle (meaning it is sent out at least once during the battle), the prize money you receive at the end of that battle is doubled. This effect stacks with other money-boosting abilities or items, though those are rarer in the early game. For instance, if a trainer normally gives you 5,000 Poké Dollars, with the Amulet Coin equipped, you’ll walk away with 10,000 Poké Dollars. This seemingly small boost adds up tremendously over time, especially when you consider the hundreds of trainer battles you’ll engage in throughout your Paldean journey.

From buying hundreds of healing potions to stocking up on Evolution Stones or even just ensuring you never run out of Poké Balls, the Amulet Coin significantly eases the financial burden of being a Pokémon Trainer. It’s an essential item for efficient gameplay and a must-have for anyone looking to grind money for late-game purchases or competitive team building.

The Definitive Amulet Coin Location Scarlet: Your Step-by-Step Guide

Acquiring the Amulet Coin in Pokémon Scarlet is not a random drop or a hidden item you stumble upon. Instead, it’s a reward for completing a specific task set by a non-player character (NPC). The process is straightforward but requires a bit of exploration and battling.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of how to get your hands on the Amulet Coin:

Step 1: Head to Medali

Your journey to obtaining the Amulet Coin begins in the bustling town of Medali. This vibrant town is a significant landmark in the Paldea region, known for its Normal-type Gym Leader, Larry. Located in the western part of the map, specifically within West Province (Area Three), Medali is typically one of the earlier towns players visit as part of the “Victory Road” storyline.

  • Navigation Tip: If you haven’t visited Medali yet, follow the main path west from Mesagoza. You’ll pass through several areas, but Medali is distinct and easily recognizable. Use your map to pinpoint its exact location in West Province (Area Three). Once you arrive, make sure to activate the Pokémon Center for future fast travel.

Step 2: Locate the League Rep

Once you’ve arrived in Medali, your next objective is to find a specific NPC: a representative of the Pokémon League. These League Reps are scattered throughout Paldea, often found near Pokémon Centers, and they typically offer rewards for defeating a certain number of trainers in their respective areas.

  • Where to Find Him: In Medali, the League Rep you’re looking for is a man dressed in a distinctive suit. He stands just outside the eastern Pokémon Center in Medali. Medali has two Pokémon Centers, so ensure you’re at the one on the eastern side of the town. He’s hard to miss once you’re in the right spot.
  • Interaction: Approach him and initiate a conversation. He will explain his role and present you with a challenge: to defeat a certain number of trainers in the surrounding area. For the Amulet Coin, he specifically asks you to defeat five trainers.

Step 3: Defeat Five Trainers in West Province (Area Three)

This is the most active part of the process. The League Rep will not give you the Amulet Coin until you prove your battling prowess by defeating five independent trainers in the region surrounding Medali. These trainers are found within West Province (Area Three).

  • Trainer Levels: The Pokémon used by these trainers typically range from the upper 20s to mid-30s in level. This means your team should ideally be around this level or higher to ensure smooth victories. If your Pokémon are significantly lower, you might want to level them up a bit before embarking on this task.
  • Finding Trainers: Unlike some previous Pokémon games where trainers visibly spin in place or are easily spotted, trainers in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are more subtly integrated into the environment. They don’t always automatically trigger battles upon entering their line of sight. You’ll need to actively seek them out and sometimes even approach them from a specific angle for the battle prompt to appear.

* South of the Pokémon Center: Many trainers can be found on the hill directly south of the eastern Medali Pokémon Center. Explore this elevated area thoroughly.

* North Road: A significant number of trainers also populate the road leading north from Medali, which eventually winds up towards the mountains. Follow this path, keeping an eye out for NPCs standing still or walking short routes.

* Exploration is Key: Don’t be afraid to wander off the main path slightly. Trainers can be found near landmarks, by trees, or simply standing in open fields. Look for the distinct character models that indicate a trainer, often identifiable by their unique stances or accessories.

  • Tracking Progress: The game doesn’t explicitly show you a counter for how many trainers you’ve defeated for this specific quest. You’ll need to keep a mental tally or rely on your memory. However, once you’ve defeated five, the League Rep’s dialogue will change.

Step 4: Return to the League Rep in Medali

Once you’re confident you’ve defeated five trainers (or more, just to be safe!), make your way back to the eastern Pokémon Center in Medali.

  • The Reward: Re-engage in conversation with the same League Rep you spoke to earlier. If you’ve successfully completed his challenge, he will acknowledge your achievement and promptly reward you with the coveted Amulet Coin. Congratulations! You’ve successfully found the amulet coin location scarlet and earned the item itself.

Step 5: Equip and Start Earning Double Money!

Receiving the Amulet Coin is just the beginning. To harness its power, you need to equip it to one of your Pokémon.

  • How to Equip:

1. Open your Bag (X button).

2. Navigate to the “Items” section.

3. Find the Amulet Coin.

4. Select “Give” and choose the Pokémon you want to hold it.

  • Best Practices for Equipping:

Active Party Member: The Pokémon holding the Amulet Coin must* participate in the battle for the effect to activate. This means it needs to be sent out at least once.

* Front of Party: A common strategy is to give the Amulet Coin to your lead Pokémon or a powerful Pokémon that you frequently use in battles. This ensures it’s always deployed, activating the coin’s effect.

* Avoid Fainting: While the effect still triggers if the Pokémon faints after being sent out, it’s generally better to keep it healthy to continue battling.

* No Stat Boost: Remember, the Amulet Coin provides no battle stat boosts; its sole purpose is to double prize money.

Maximizing Your Earnings with the Amulet Coin

Now that you know the amulet coin location scarlet and possess this invaluable item, it’s time to put it to good use. The Amulet Coin is most effective when used in battles that yield high amounts of prize money.

Early Game Strategies:

  • Random Trainer Battles: Simply having the Amulet Coin equipped as you progress through the game’s various routes and engage in regular trainer battles will significantly boost your income. Every little bit adds up!
  • Gym Leader Rematches (Later Game): While not available immediately, once you’ve completed the main story, you can rematch Gym Leaders. These battles often give substantial rewards, which are doubled by the Amulet Coin.

Late Game Money Farming:

The Amulet Coin truly shines in the post-game, where opportunities for high-yield battles become more frequent.

  • Academy Ace Tournament: This is arguably the best way to farm money in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. After completing the main story, you’ll unlock the Academy Ace Tournament at Naranja/Uva Academy. This tournament consists of four consecutive battles against powerful trainers (including some familiar faces like your teachers).

* High Payouts: Each battle in the tournament offers a significant amount of prize money. With the Amulet Coin equipped, these payouts are doubled, leading to massive profits per tournament run.

* Efficiency: The tournament is repeatable, making it a reliable and efficient method for accumulating wealth.

  • Team Star Rematches: After defeating all Team Star bosses and completing their storyline, you can rematch them at their bases. These battles also offer good prize money. While not as lucrative as the Academy Ace Tournament, they provide another avenue for money farming, especially if you enjoy battling specific types.
  • Tera Raid Battles (Less Direct): While Tera Raid Battles don’t directly give prize money from trainers, they do reward you with valuable items that can be sold for Poké Dollars. The Amulet Coin doesn’t directly affect these rewards, but having plenty of cash from other sources allows you to buy more raid passes or items needed for raids.

Other Money-Making Tips (Complementary to Amulet Coin)

While the Amulet Coin is your primary tool for doubling battle earnings, here are a few other tips to complement your money-making efforts in Pokémon Scarlet:

  • Selling Treasures: Many items you find or receive from Tera Raids, like Comet Shards, Stardust, or Nuggets, are purely for selling to shops. Always check the descriptions of items in your bag; if it says “can be sold for a high price,” that’s its primary purpose.
  • Item Finder (Sparkling Spots): Keep an eye out for sparkling spots on the ground as you explore Paldea. These often contain hidden items, including valuable treasures.
  • Picnics for Shiny Hunting (Indirectly): While not directly money-making, having sandwich powers that increase item drops (e.g., from Tera Raids) can indirectly lead to more sellable items.
  • Tera Shard Exchange (Later Game): Once you have an abundance of Tera Shards from Tera Raids, you can exchange them for specific types at the Delibird Presents shop, though this is usually for competitive battling rather than direct profit.

Conclusion

The Amulet Coin is an indispensable item for any Pokémon Trainer in Paldea looking to optimize their finances. Knowing the amulet coin location scarlet and how to acquire it is a game-changer, turning those modest prize money payouts into substantial sums. By following the steps outlined in this guide – traveling to Medali, finding the League Rep, defeating five trainers in West Province (Area Three), and then returning for your reward – you’ll quickly gain access to this powerful money-doubling tool.

Equip the Amulet Coin to one of your active Pokémon, and watch your Poké Dollar balance swell with every trainer battle. Utilize it strategically in the post-game content, especially the Academy Ace Tournament, to become a true financial powerhouse in the world of Pokémon Scarlet. Happy battling, and may your pockets always be full!

I can help with that. The Amulet Coin (おまもりこばん, Amulet Coin?) is an item introduced in Generation II which doubles the prize money received from a trainer if the Pokémon in the battle is holding the item and joins in.

Which gives more money, luck, incense or Amulet Coin?

The Amulet Coin and Luck Incense do the same exact thing. They both double the amount of money you get for beating a trainer. However, I believe if you have a Chansey or Blissy hold Luck Incense and breed, you’ll get Happiny.
