The value of a 2000 Sacagawea dollar coin varies depending on its condition and any unique features or errors.

  • Circulated: Most circulated 2000 Sacagawea dollars are only worth their face value of $1. Some sources suggest they might fetch slightly more, between $1.05 and $1.35, in circulated condition.
  • Uncirculated: In pristine, uncirculated condition, these coins can sell for as much as $375, according to the NGC Price Guide. However, general value ranges for uncirculated 2000-P/D Sacagawea dollars are between $10 and $30.

Certain 2000 Sacagawea dollars with specific errors or unique characteristics are significantly more valuable to collectors. Some of the most notable include:

  • 2000-P Cheerios Dollar: Distributed in Cheerios cereal boxes, these coins have a more detailed tail feather design on the eagle’s back. Only 60 to 70 are known to exist, and their value ranges from $5,000 to $25,000 or more.
  • 2000-P Wounded Eagle Variety: This error coin has a die gouge running diagonally across the eagle’s breast. Around 100 are believed to exist, with one graded MS68 selling for $5,160 in 2017. General ranges for these error coins are between $250 and $5,000+.
  • 2000 Sacagawea/Washington Quarter Mule: This extremely rare error coin features the Sacagawea dollar obverse (heads) paired with the reverse of a Washington quarter. Only 18 are known to exist, with one selling for $144,000 in 2022.
  • Sacagawea Dollar Struck on a Susan B. Anthony Planchet: These coins have the Sacagawea design but retain the coloring of a Susan B. Anthony dollar. One sold for $16,800 in 2022.
  • 2000-D Sacagawea/South Carolina Quarter Mule: This mule coin features the Sacagawea obverse with a South Carolina quarter reverse. Only one is known to exist, and it sold for $66,000 in 2022.
  • 2000-P Sacagawea Dollar Struck on a Massachusetts Quarter: This error occurred when a Sacagawea dollar was struck over a Massachusetts quarter. One sold for over $8,000 in 2007.

In summary, most 2000 Sacagawea dollar coins are only worth their face value, but some rare error coins can be worth thousands of dollars.

In general, most Sacagawea dollars are only worth their face value of $1. But select error coins—particularly those with unique minting mistakes or special characteristics—can command prices as high as $10,000 or more among collectors.

From my experience, The 2000 Sacagawea dollar – Washington quarter mule is an error coin featuring the obverse of a Washington quarter (specifically a 50 State quarter) and the reverse of a Sacagawea dollar struck on a gold-colored dollar coin planchet.

U.S. dollar coins worth money are hard to identify at a glance. Their value lies in where they were minted, their historical significance, mintage, precious metal content, whether they are error coins, and their condition.
