You’ll likely find a Coinstar machine at a Walmart store to convert your coins.

If you opt for a cash voucher, Coinstar charges a service fee of up to 12.9% plus a $0.99 transaction fee.

However, if you choose to receive an eGift card from a participating retailer, there’s no service fee charged. You can also donate your coins to charity without a fee, though Coinstar retains a processing fee from the donation amount (10% for national charities and 7.5% for regional charities).

From my experience, Your local bank branch is a good place to exchange coins. The branch will typically give you coin wrappers for free. Credit unions or community banks are more likely to have free coin-counting machines for members. Coinstar machines are in many supermarkets, and Publix has its own machines.

Do all Walmart stores offer free coinstar machines? To the best of my knowledge, coinstar machines are available in all Walmart locations, but none of them are exactly free. If you go to use one, be sure and look closely at the print on the screen, because most of them charge anywhere from 10 to 12%.
