Haudenosaunee coins that are missing a year mark can be valuable due to their rarity as error coins. The exact value depends on various factors:

  • Coin type: These coins are typically a form of the US Native American $1 Coin featuring Haudenosaunee imagery, such as the Hiawatha belt.
  • Condition: Similar to other coins, their condition plays a significant role in determining value. Uncirculated or Proof coins usually fetch higher prices.
  • Specific error: The exact nature of the missing date can influence desirability and value.
  • Demand: As with other collectibles, the number of collectors actively seeking these error coins affects the price.

Some instances of these error coins have sold for hundreds of dollars. For example:

  • Sacagawea No Mint/Year with Haudenosaunee & Great Law of Peace Back: One such coin was recently listed for $375 on eBay.
  • Sacagawea No Mint Mark Date, Haudenosaunee Great Law Of Peace USA Dollar Coin: Another similar coin is listed for $900 on eBay.

To get the most accurate valuation, it’s recommended to consult with a professional coin dealer or have the coin examined by a reputable grading agency. They can assess its condition, verify the error, and provide a fair market price based on current trends and demand.

A coin collector must know the date to determine the rarity and value of the nickel. For example, undated buffalo nickels are worth about $0.06 each, but only because people use them for jewelry, shirt buttons, and other uses. All other types of nickels without dates are pretty much only worth face value.

Thanks for asking. After 8 years of the Sacagawea Dollars, the United States Mint began to try new designs. Thus, came the Native American Dollar Coins. One thing that you can note about the new designs is that there is no longer a date or a mint mark visible on the dollar. Instead, the date and mint mark appear on the edge.

I can help with that. In general, most Sacagawea dollars are only worth their face value of $1. But select error coins—particularly those with unique minting mistakes or special characteristics—can command prices as high as $10,000 or more among collectors.

Great question! Hiawatha Belt and five arrows bound together representing unity with the inscription “Haudenosaunee” – the word the Iroquois Confederacy calls themselves. The word means ” People of the Long House “.
