The value of a 1994 Kennedy half dollar depends on several factors, including its condition, mint mark, and whether it’s a proof or business strike coin.

  • Most 1994 Kennedy half dollars found in circulation are made of copper-nickel clad copper and are worth their face value, $0.50.
  • In circulated condition, the value for coins from the Philadelphia (P) and Denver (D) mints ranges from $0.55 to $0.65 as of August 2025.
  • 1994-P and 1994-D: Uncirculated examples of these coins, especially in higher grades (like MS66 or higher), can fetch higher prices from collectors. For instance, a 1994-P Kennedy Half Dollar in pristine uncirculated condition can sell for up to $2450, while a 1994-D can reach up to $225 in similar condition.
  • 1994-S Silver Proof: These coins, minted in San Francisco, contain 90% silver and are generally more valuable than the copper-nickel clad versions. As of December 2020, the metal value alone was around $9.25, and their market value for a Choice Proof condition is $68.50.
  • Certain error coins, such as those with double die or missing lettering, can be highly sought after by collectors and may command higher prices.
  • A 1994-P Double Die Obverse (DDO) error coin, where the ear shows doubling, is an example of a potentially more valuable error.

Note: Always consult a reputable coin dealer or coin grading service for an accurate assessment of a specific coin’s condition and potential value.

Great question! This half dollar features President John F. Kennedy on its obverse and is made of 90% silver, making it a prized piece for numismatists interested in silver coins.
