To get a coin graded by PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service), you’ll need to consider a few factors: membership, the value of your coin, the desired turnaround time, and shipping/handling.

Here’s a breakdown of the costs involved:

  • Silver: $69 (basic membership, no grading vouchers included).
  • Gold: $149 (includes 4 grading vouchers).
  • Platinum: $249 (includes 8 grading vouchers).
  • Economy: $22 for coins valued under $300 (70-day turnaround).
  • Regular: $38 for coins valued up to $2,500 (50-day turnaround).
  • Express: $65 for coins valued up to $10,000 (15-day turnaround).
  • Walkthrough: $150 for coins valued up to $100,000.
  • Rarities: $300 + 1% for coins valued at $100,001 or more.
  • Handling Fee: $10 per submission.
  • Shipping and Insurance: This cost varies depending on the value of your coins and your preferred shipping method. It’s not included in the grading fee and should be factored into your total expense.
  • Oversized Holder: If your coin requires an oversized holder, an additional fee of $20 per coin applies.
  • Special Labels: If you want specific labels, like “First Strike” for eligible coins, there will be an extra charge (e.g., $18 per coin for First Strike).

The total cost to have a coin graded by PCGS will depend on your specific needs. A single, low-value coin with a basic membership and economy grading will be significantly cheaper than a high-value coin submitted through the express service with additional features. Remember to consider all costs, including membership, grading fees, handling, shipping, and any special requests.
