The value of a 1995-D Kennedy half dollar coin varies depending on its condition:

  • Circulated Condition: A 1995-D Kennedy Half Dollar in circulated condition is generally worth between $0.55 and $0.65, according to the [NGC Price Guide as of August 2025].
  • Uncirculated Condition: On the open market, 1995-D half dollars in pristine, uncirculated condition can sell for significantly more, even as high as $1700.
  • Circulation: Coins that have been in circulation will show wear and tear, reducing their value. Uncirculated coins, on the other hand, have retained their original mint luster and details, commanding higher prices.
  • Condition/Grade: The higher the grade (indicating better condition), the more valuable the coin. Uncirculated coins are graded on a scale from MS-60 to MS-70, with MS-70 being a perfect coin free of any marks.
  • Errors: Coins with minting errors, such as broadstruck or double-struck errors, can be significantly more valuable. Examples of errors on 1995 Kennedy half-dollars include broadstruck errors, doubled dies, off-center strikes, and faint lettering.

Note: A 1/2 Dollar 1995 D Mint in very good condition is available on eBay for $2500 . A 1995 John F Kennedy Half Dollar Coin, Mint Mark D Filled, Rare is available on eBay for $1000 . An APMEX Kennedy Half BU Coin, US Mint (1995-D) is available from APMEX for $4.16 and on eBay for $3.

Although the standard coin itself can hold value, you can identify rarer versions of this coin by looking at the design. Coins with known and documented errors, like changes in the former president’s hair, can be worth even more.

Great question! 1919 -D Walking Liberty Half Dollar
Considered by collectors to be the rarest Walking Liberty half dollar to find in Gem condition, the 1919 issue from the Denver Mint is very valuable. There were only 1.1 million of these coins struck in Denver, and among these, few have the detail to qualify as Gem.
