The current exchange rate for one Philippine peso (PHP) is approximately $0.0175 USD as of August 17, 2025.

However, the actual value of a Philippine 1 peso coin can vary depending on several factors, including:

  • Age and condition: Older or rarer coins, particularly those in excellent condition, can be worth significantly more to collectors than their face value. For example:

– A Rare Philippines One Peso Vintage & Collectible coin typically costs around $12 USD.
– A Philippines 1 Peso Us Decimal Coinage Large Type XF40 PCGS silver coin from 1906 can be valued as high as $12,999.15 USD.

  • Material: The composition of the coin can impact its value. Historically, 1 peso coins have been made from materials such as gold, silver, nickel-brass, cupronickel, and nickel-plated steel. Silver coins, especially older ones, may have a higher inherent value due to their metal content. For instance, a 1903 Philippines One Peso coin made of 80% silver could be worth $110 USD.
  • Rarity and errors: Coins with errors or limited mintage can be highly sought after by collectors. An “Error Coin, Philippines 1 Peso 1975 – 1982 Ang Bagong Lipunan” is valued at $30.49 USD.
  • Market demand: Collector interest and prevailing market conditions can also influence the value of specific 1 peso coins.

In addition to collecting, 1 peso coins are also used in daily transactions in the Philippines. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas released a New Generation Currency (NGC) Coin Series in 2018, which includes the 1-Piso coin featuring the national hero Jose Rizal on the obverse and the Waling-waling orchid along with the logo of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas on the reverse.

I can help with that. Among the rarest coins in the U.S. Philippines series from the collectors’ standpoint are the 1906-S One Peso, the 1916-S Five Centavos, the 1918-S Five Centavo Mule, the 1903-S Twenty Centavos (especially in Mint State) and the 1915-S One Centavo.
