On each commonly circulated United States coin and bill, you can find a portrait of a prominent historical figure.

  • Penny (1 cent): Abraham Lincoln.
  • Nickel (5 cents): Thomas Jefferson.
  • Dime (10 cents): Franklin D. Roosevelt.
  • Quarter (25 cents): George Washington.
  • Half Dollar (50 cents): John F. Kennedy.
  • Dollar coin ($1): Sacagawea.
  • $1 Bill: George Washington.
  • $2 Bill: Thomas Jefferson.
  • $5 Bill: Abraham Lincoln.
  • $10 Bill: Alexander Hamilton.
  • $20 Bill: Andrew Jackson.
  • $50 Bill: Ulysses S. Grant.
  • $100 Bill: Benjamin Franklin.

It’s important to note that while some figures on the bills are presidents, Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill and Benjamin Franklin on the $100 bill were not US presidents but are recognized for their historical significance.

Thanks for asking. States this dual presidency makes him a stand out in American history. And his portrait on the $1,000. Bill is a testament to that. The design of the 1928.

Thanks for asking. We have George Washington on the $1 bill, Thomas Jefferson on the $2 bill, Abraham Lincoln on the $5, Andrew Jackson on the $20, and Ulysses S. Grant on the $50. Alexander Hamilton and Ben Franklin were never presidents, but they are featured on the $10 and $100 bill, respectively.

Great question! $500 Bill: William McKinley
The Fed and Treasury discontinued the $500 bill in 1969 for lack of use. It was last printed in 1945, but the Treasury says Americans continue to hold the notes. McKinley is noteworthy because he is among the few presidents who were assassinated.
