The value of a 1979-D Susan B. Anthony dollar coin depends heavily on its condition and any unique characteristics it might possess.

  • Circulated Condition: According to the [NGC Price Guide] , as of August 2025, a circulated 1979-D Susan B. Anthony dollar is typically worth between $1.05 and $1.35. BOLD Precious Metals indicates a circulated buy price of $2.00 and a sell price of $1.05.
  • Uncirculated Condition: If the coin is in pristine, uncirculated condition, it can be worth considerably more. The [NGC Price Guide] states it could fetch as much as $1950. Other sources suggest a range of $1.60-$1,550 or $2.65-$1,560. BOLD Precious Metals lists an uncirculated buy price of $2.50 and a sell price of $2.00.
  • Mint Mark: The “D” mint mark indicates the coin was produced at the Denver Mint.
  • Errors and Varieties: While not as prominent as the 1979-P Wide Rim variety, some 1979-D coins might have errors that increase their value, such as a “filled D” mint mark. The “filled D” and E Pluribus dot error is cited with a typical cost of $2,000. Another listing suggests a 1979-D Susan B. Anthony Dollar with rare errors including a filled D dot FG error and head error.
  • The 1979-D Susan B. Anthony dollar is among the most common in the series in circulated grades. However, examples in higher uncirculated grades (MS67 or above) are more challenging to find and highly desirable among collectors, commanding significant prices at auction.

In conclusion, while a 1979-D Susan B. Anthony dollar in circulated condition typically holds a modest value, uncirculated examples, especially those with rare errors, can be quite valuable to collectors.

And the rim of the coin. The rim and the date are almost touching on the wide rim variety. The wide rim variety adds a nice premium to your coin. In grade 40 the wide rim dollar is worth about $12.
