Here’s a general overview:

  • Circulated Condition:

– 1926 Peace Dollars in circulated condition (worn from use) typically have values ranging from $41.50 to $70, according to the NGC Price Guide as of August 2025.
– Some sources report values slightly lower, from $32 to $37, for circulated 1926 Peace Dollars.
– The [melt value] (the value of the silver content) was $29.88 as of August 13, 2025.

  • Uncirculated (Mint State) Condition:

– In pristine, uncirculated condition, 1926 Peace Dollars can sell for much higher prices.
– An uncirculated 1926 Peace Dollar with a Philadelphia mint mark (no mint mark) can sell for as much as $21,500.
– The [NGC price guide] shows a range of values for uncirculated coins, from $75 for Mint State 60 up to $21,500 for Mint State 67.
– A 1926 Peace dollar in Gem Uncirculated Mint State-65 (MS65) condition is available for $995.
– A 1926 Peace Dollar certified as MS-64 by PCGS is listed for $364.57.

  • Mint marks (D for Denver and S for San Francisco):

– 1926-D (Denver) Peace Dollars in circulated condition are typically worth between $41.50 and $110. Uncirculated 1926-D coins can sell for as much as $22,500.
– 1926-S (San Francisco) Peace Dollars in circulated condition are worth between $41.50 and $65. Uncirculated 1926-S coins can sell for as much as $40,000.
– A 1926-S Peace Dollar in MS66+ condition with a CAC sticker is offered for $27,500. Another 1926-S Peace Dollar is listed for $48.29 or $55.
– A 1926-S Peace Dollar described as “AVG UNC SEMI KEY IN BU” is listed for $113.99.

Important considerations:

  • Grading: Having your coin professionally graded by a service like PCGS or NGC can significantly impact its value.
  • Condition: Even minor damage or cleaning can decrease a coin’s value.
  • Mint Mark: The mint where the coin was produced can also affect its value. Philadelphia mint coins typically have no mint mark. Denver coins have a ‘D’ mint mark. San Francisco coins have an ‘S’ mint mark.

In conclusion, a 1926 dollar coin’s value varies greatly depending on its condition. While circulated coins may be worth a bit above their silver content, uncirculated examples, especially those with high grades from professional grading services, can command substantial prices from collectors.

Good point! You’ll see that little extra metal there now that is a rim cud or a die break uh so this coin ended up selling for $81. All because of that it is graded by PCGS. At an AU53.

How do I tell if my dollar coin is rare?

One of the easiest ways to tell if a coin is rare is to check the date. If the coin is from before 1800, it’s likely rare. Coins minted in the 19th century are also generally considered rare, with a few exceptions. Coins from the 20th century are less likely to be rare, but there are still some that meet the criteria.

I can help with that. For example, the key date 1934-S Peace Silver Dollar, is a highly sought-after rarity due to its difficulty to acquire in high grades. The original 1921 Peace Dollar is also in incredibly high demand as it is the first and only example struck in high relief in the entire series.
