The value of a 1977-D Eisenhower Dollar coin can vary depending on its condition and any errors or varieties it might possess.

  • Circulated Condition: A 1977-D Eisenhower Dollar in circulated condition is typically worth between $1.05 and $1.50, according to the NGC Price Guide as of August 2025.
  • Uncirculated Condition: In pristine, uncirculated condition, these coins can sell for significantly more. One source mentions values as high as $1900. Other sources indicate value ranges of $2.20 – $4,750 or $2.20 – $4750. The higher values are likely associated with higher grades of uncirculated condition (e.g., MS-67).

Certain errors or varieties can make a 1977-D Eisenhower Dollar significantly more valuable.

  • 1977-D Eisenhower Dollar Obverse Die Cap: This error results in a coin with curled-up edges resembling a bottle cap and is considered very rare and valuable. One such coin sold for $29,900 in 2006.
  • 1977-D Eisenhower Dollar Struck on Silver Planchet: These are considered error coins because silver dollars were not intended to be produced in 1977. [One source] suggests about 15 such coins exist. A silver planchet version sold for $26,400 in 2023.
  • Error with Filled In “D” Mintmark: This error exists and has a value of approximately $22.99 on eBay.
  • Other Errors: Other errors, such as a strike through grease or a missing part of the design, can also make the coin more valuable depending on their severity and uniqueness.

In summary, a standard 1977-D Eisenhower Dollar is worth slightly more than its face value in circulated condition. However, error and variety coins, particularly those in high grades or with rare errors, can be significantly more valuable, ranging from a few hundred to tens of thousands of dollars.

1977-D Eisenhower Dollar on Silver Planchet
There were a few struck in 1976 to celebrate the bicentennial, but they were not supposed to be made in 1977. About 15 silver planchets accidentally made their way into the system in 1977 at the Denver Mint, and the result is a very rare coin. One sold for $26,400 in 2023.

The face value of 1977 Silver Jubilee Crowns is the same as when they were issued: 25p. These coins are not worth much more than that as they are so common (37,061,160 were released) but a collector may pay a little more for an example in nice condition. Are 1977 Silver Jubilee coin rare?
