The value of a 2009 gold-colored dollar coin varies depending on its type (Presidential Dollar or Native American Dollar), condition, and any potential errors.

The 2009 Presidential Dollar series honored William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, James K. Polk , and Zachary Taylor.

  • Circulated coins: The face value of a circulated 2009 Presidential Dollar is $1.
  • Uncirculated coins: Uncirculated 2009 Presidential Dollars can be worth $1.50 to $3.00, or more, depending on the specific president, the mint (e.g., “P” for Philadelphia, “D” for Denver, or “S” for San Francisco), and the grade.
  • Proof coins: These specially minted coins with a mirror-like finish can be worth $3.00 to $5.00 or more.

The 2009 Native American Dollar featured Sacagawea on the obverse and a reverse design honoring Native American contributions to agriculture, also known as the “Three Sisters” agriculture.

One thing that you can note about the new designs is that there is no longer a date or a mint mark visible on the dollar. Instead, the date and mint mark appear on the edge. This is called edge lettering.
