The value of a Mexican 50 Pesos gold coin, also known as a Centenario, fluctuates depending on several factors, including:

  • Gold content: Each 50 Pesos gold coin contains 1.2057 oz of gold. The current price of gold (spot price) is a major determinant of the coin’s value. As of August 14, 2025, the gold price per ounce is around $3,355.00 – $3,370.19 USD.
  • Condition and rarity: Coins in pristine condition (BU – Brilliant Uncirculated) or rare variations may command higher prices than those with wear and tear.
  • Numismatic value: Beyond the gold content, some Mexican 50 Pesos coins hold additional numismatic value for collectors, particularly early or uncirculated issues.

Based on recent offers, the typical price range for a Mexican 50 Pesos gold coin is approximately:

  • $4,020.24 – $8,995 USD: This wide range reflects differences in the coin’s condition, rarity, and whether it includes a bezel, which may affect the overall price.
  • Specifically, a 1947 Mexican 50 Pesos gold coin can be found for prices ranging from $5399 to $8995 depending on the condition and if it’s considered a collector’s item.

Several online and local dealers offer Mexican 50 Pesos gold coins:

Interestingly, the 50 Peso face value attached to the coin isn’t related to it’s gold value. The Centenario is 90% gold and 10% copper, and is composed of 37.5 grams, or 1.2057 troy ounces, of actual gold. It measures at 37mm in diameter and weighs 41.67 grams.
