The Andrew Jackson gold dollar coin, also known as a Presidential Dollar, was minted in 2008 and is part of a series honoring U.S. Presidents . It’s important to note that these coins are not made of solid gold, but rather are composed of a copper core with a manganese brass cladding, giving them a golden appearance.

The value of an Andrew Jackson gold dollar coin can vary significantly depending on several factors, including:

  • Condition: Uncirculated coins or those in pristine condition are generally more valuable to collectors.
  • Mint Mark: Coins from different mints may have slightly different values. The 2008 Andrew Jackson coins were minted in both Philadelphia (“P” mint mark) and Denver (“D” mint mark). The mint mark is typically located on the edge of the coin.
  • Errors: Coins with minting errors, such as missing edge lettering or die chip errors, can command higher prices due to their rarity. For example, a 2008 Andrew Jackson presidential $1 coin missing the edge lettering has been listed for $117.00.
  • Demand: Collector interest in specific coins can influence their value.
  • An uncirculated 2008-P Andrew Jackson Presidential Dollar from the Philadelphia mint is currently available from Littleton Coin Company for $6.25.
  • A 2008 Andrew Jackson Presidential Dollar with a missing edge lettering error, in uncirculated condition, is available from Littleton Coin Company for $117.00.
  • A “Rare 2008 Andrew Jackson 7th President D Mint Coin” was listed for $550 on eBay.
  • Some Andrew Jackson gold dollar coins, particularly those with rare errors or in exceptional condition, have been listed for much higher prices, ranging from several hundred dollars to over a thousand . One listing on eBay mentions a previous sale of an [Andrew Jackson Gold Dollar Coin] for $1800.

It’s important to research the specific details of your coin, such as its condition and any potential errors, to accurately assess its value. Online resources like [NGC] and the [U.S. Mint (.gov)] can provide valuable information on coin values and factors influencing them.

The Andrew Jackson was minted in 2008 and does have the Statue of Liberty on the back. The date should read 1829 – 1837. As far as value, the standard circulated coin is currently only worth face value.

From my experience, Background. The Andrew Jackson Presidential $1 Coin honors the 7th President of the United States. A citizen of Tennessee, Andrew Jackson was the first president elected from west of the Appalachian Mountains. As a boy, he fought in the Revolutionary War.

Thanks for asking. The 2008 Andrew Jackson dollar is missing the date, mint mark, motto e pluribus unum and motto in god we trust (which was moved to the obverse in 2009) – these early issues were even dubbed “Godless” coins by the media!
