- Quarters minted since 1965 (made of a copper-nickel blend) weigh 5.67 grams (0.2 ounces).
- Silver quarters minted between 1932 and 1964 weigh 6.25 grams (0.2204 ounces).
- Older silver quarters (1873-1964) also weigh 6.25 grams.
It’s important to note that the composition changed in 1965 due to rising silver prices. Quarters minted before 1965 are composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, while post-1964 quarters are clad with 91.67% copper and 8.33% nickel on a copper core.
