Most H-E-B stores offer coin-counting services through Coinstar kiosks.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Service Options: Coinstar allows you to convert your loose change into cash (with a fee), eGift Cards (often fee-free), or donate to a charity.
  • Fees: A service fee (up to 12.9% + $0.99) applies for cash conversions, but many eGift Card options are fee-free.
  • How it works: Simply pour your coins into the Coinstar machine, follow the on-screen instructions, and choose your preferred payout option.
  • Alternative: You can also use coins to pay for items at self-checkout lanes without incurring a fee, though there might be a practical limit on the amount of coins you can use this way.

In addition to coin counting, H-E-B stores often have other kiosks and vending services available, such as ATMs, phone recycling machines, and cryptocurrency kiosks.

Just pour your coins into the kiosk and let us do the work. Choose one of our three convenient options: get cash, which has a service fee up to 12.9% + $0.99 transaction (fees may vary by location), select an eGift Card, or make a donation to your favorite charity.

Great question! Your local bank branch is a good place to exchange coins. The branch will typically give you coin wrappers for free. Credit unions or community banks are more likely to have free coin-counting machines for members.

I can help with that. Key takeaways
Banks and credit unions often offer free coin exchange services for customers, while charging small fees for non-customers. Coinstar machines charge up to 12.9 percent plus a 99-cent flat fee but are widely available at grocery stores and retailers.

Good point! Turn your coins into cash fast.
You don’t have to count, sort, or roll your coins. Our big green kiosks are at grocery stores, so you can get cash conveniently, right on the spot. A service fee up to 12.9% + $0.99 transaction fee may apply. Fees may vary by location.
