Yes, many Walmart stores have Coinstar kiosks where you can exchange your coins for cash or gift cards.

Here’s how it generally works:

  1. Find a Coinstar Kiosk: Look for a Coinstar machine within your local Walmart store.
  2. Pour in your coins: Dump your loose change into the machine’s tray.
  3. Choose your payout method: You have options like:

– Cash Voucher: You’ll receive a voucher to redeem for cash at the customer service desk.
– No Fee eGift Card: You can choose an eGift card from a variety of retailers and restaurants without paying a fee.
– Charitable Donation: You can donate your coins to a charity, also without incurring a fee.

Important Notes:

  • Fees: Coinstar charges a processing fee (which can vary by location) if you choose the cash voucher option. It’s generally around 11.9% of the value of the coins.
  • Gift Card Selection: The selection of available eGift cards may vary by location and time.
  • Bitcoin Purchases: Some Coinstar kiosks, in partnership with Coinme, allow you to purchase Bitcoin using cash (paper money), not coins.

Keep in mind that while Walmart generally offers Coinstar kiosks, their availability can vary by individual store location. You may want to check online or call your local Walmart to confirm if they have a Coinstar machine before making a special trip.

Great question! Your local bank branch is a good place to exchange coins. The branch will typically give you coin wrappers for free. Credit unions or community banks are more likely to have free coin-counting machines for members. Coinstar machines are in many supermarkets, and Publix has its own machines.

Thanks for asking. Calculate Coinstar’s Fee
Coinstar’s fee is currently set at 11.9 percent of the value of the coins you’re exchanging. Basically: That’s nearly $12 for every $100 in coins you feed to the machine. You’d have to guess how much change you have accumulated to calculate the Coinstar fee.
